Downtown Wake Forest's new Social District is an exciting addition to the vibrant charm of this historic town. Officially launched June 5, 2025, this initiative invites adults (21+) to enjoy alcoholic beverages—beer, wine, cocktails—from participating local spots as they stroll through a defined downtown area Thursday through Saturday, from noon to 9 p.m.
Here’s how it works: grab your drink in a branded social-district cup from a place with a blue “Sold Here” decal, then wander freely within the district—or into spots with a green “Welcomed Here” decal—enjoying your beverage on sidewalks and patios. Just remember: no personal alcohol, no glass containers, and cups must stay within the district and be disposed before leaving—or before entering a vehicle. Signage clearly marks the boundaries and hours.
Spanning South White Street, Elm, Jones and Brooks Avenues—including the Renaissance Plaza—the district brings new energy to downtown, complementing beloved events like Friday Night on White, Six Sundays in Spring, farmers markets, and festive celebrations that already draw locals and families year-round.
